H-F's Jones Scores Every Which Way for Memorable Senior Night
Sheldon Jones had a night to remember as he delivered on offense and defense in the Vikings' 56-19 victory over Joliet West.

’s Senior Night football victory was a game that Vikings senior safety Sheldon Jones will remember fondly for a long time.
In the Vikings’ final regular-season home game, Jones tallied three touchdowns—one rushing, one receiving and one on an interception return—
“We just came out and played. It was real fun,” Jones said afterward.

The fun began for Jones early in the night, when he took the field with his family during pregame introductions for Senior Night festivities. He wasted little time in giving his family, his teammates and the crowd something to smile about, as he notched the game's first score on an 8-yard touchdown scamper around left tackle to make it 7-0 H-F early in the first quarter.
The Vikings went into halftime with only a 21-13 lead, with the Tigers set to get the ball first out of the break. On the Tigers’ second play from scrimmage in the second half, Jones made a leaping, one-handed interception at the Joliet West 36-yard line, then zig-zagged his way through the Tigers for his second touchdown of the night.

“I dropped the one in the first quarter,” he said. “This one just kind of came to me, so I knew I just had to score.”
Jones wasn't finished, though, as he added a third score on a screen pass from quarterback Tim Williams in the third quarter. Jones also had a 69-yard return after recovering a fumble in the third quarter.
“He's a playmaker for us,” said Vikings head coach Craig Buzea, who was clearly impressed with the three very different touchdowns Jones scored. “That's almost like hitting for the cycle in baseball. I've never seen that (before). He's a very good player.”
Jones and the rest of the Vikings (6-2 overall, 4-2 in SouthWest Suburban Blue) will visit Sandburg next Friday. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
