Gun Ditched, Cell Phone Stolen On Bus: Homewood Police Blotter

Unlawful Use Of A Weapon
Matthew Carnes, 37, of the 19000 block of Terrace Avenue was charged with unlawful use of a weapon and disorderly conduct at 11:06 p.m. on May 20 in the 18300 block of Riegel Road. During the course of a traffic altercation, Carnes exited his vehicle and approached another driver in a threatening manner. After the other driver called 911, Carnes fled the area on foot and discarded a firearm. Carnes was located a short distance away and the firearm was located.

Retail Theft
David Shelby, 57, of Chicago Heights was charged with retail theft at 6:35 p.m. on May 25 at Walgreen's, 820 W. 183rd St. Shelby placed items into a shopping bag and exited the store without making payment for the merchandise, which had a total retail value of $253.52.

Theft
Martes Moyer, 25, of Robbins was charged with theft at 8:58 p.m. on May 25 in the 17500 block of Halsted Street. As he exited a PACE bus, Moyer took possession of a cell phone that belonged to another passenger. Moyer was located a short distance from the bus stop and the phone was recovered.
