H-F Educator Named Illinois Biology Teacher Of The Year

FLOSSMOOR, IL — A Homewood-Flossmoor High School science teacher has been recognized as the best biology teacher in the state. Michelle Kozik, a Saint Xavier University alum whose been at H-F since 2005, was named the 2019-2020 Outstanding Illinois Biology Teacher of the Year by the National Association of Biology Teachers according to a news release from the school.

Kozik, who also teaches chemistry and physics at H-F, has been invited to formally receive the award this November at the association's annual convention in Baltimore. The award is open to biology teachers for grades 7-12 throughout the nation.

"She is being recognized for her dedication, commitment and teaching pedagogy and for managing a classroom with positive energy and enthusiasm to create a dynamic learning environment," the school said.
