Homewood Child Arrested After Threatening Peers at James Hart School: Police
Homewood police took a local middle school student into custody after learning that he or she had shared plans to harm peers this week.

HOMEWOOD, IL - Homewood police took a local middle school student into custody after learning he or she had shared plans to harm peers at James Hart School this week.
The student was later released to parents, according to a community alert from the Homewood Police Department. Investigators first got wind of the threats on Friday, Aug. 25. Although authorities did not disclose what the student had planned, they did indicate that he or she specified inflicting the harm on Monday, Aug. 28. The student was detained on Friday.
"James Hart School was notified and initiated their internal procedures," officials said. "The Homewood Police Department is working in conjunction with James Hart School to ensure the safety of all students and faculty."

James Hart School comprises students in grades six to eight. It is located at 18220 Morgan Ave. in Homewood.
The Homewood Police Department Criminal Investigations Unit is working with the Cook County State's Attorney's Office, Juvenile Division, to identify appropriate charges and/or restorative justice.
