Homewood-Flossmoor High School Teachers Endorse Incumbents in School Board Election
Four challengers are attempting to unseat the incumbents.

Homewood-Flossmoor High School teachers have given a major vote of confidence in the current District 233 Board by endorsing all four incumbents. John Farrell (#1), Tim Wenckus (#3), Jody Scariano (#4) and Debbie Berman (#5) were all endorsed. The District 233 School Board Election is being contested by 4 challengers in the April 7 election.
“I am humbled and proud of the teacher’s support,” says candidate Tim Wenckus, a board member since 2013. “Our highly qualified staff is HF High School’s biggest asset. We need to continue to develop, mentor and retain the best teachers and administrators. This has been a contentious race. I don’t mind the stress on me, but I do mind it on my family. Then, along comes such an honor as to be endorsed by the teachers of this exceptional district, and I am reminded again of why public service is a privilege.” Wenckus and his wife Becky have three daughters; two at HF now, and one that will enter in the fall.

The HF High School certified teachers and educational assistants are represented in bargaining by the Homewood-Flossmoor Education Organization (HFEO), an affiliate of the Illinois Education Association. HFEO President and HF mathematics teacher Dana Noble confirmed the HFEO endorsement.
Tim Wenckus stated that in addition to retaining quality staff, his top priories are maintaining high academic expectations of HF High School students and demonstrating continued fiscal discipline with the District 233 budget. “I am a member of the District 233 Finance Committee,” says Wenckus. “We have a AAA Standard and Poor’s bond rating. Only 69 (or 2% of) schools in the nation can say that and HF is one! Our proactive approach has enabled H-F to sustain this rating year after year.”
