HOMEWOOD-FLOSSMOOR, IL — Several local school districts are closing for remote learning Wednesday due to a winter storm predicted to hit portions of Illinois.
District 153:
- Will conduct remote learning.
- Students should look for more information from their teacher regarding assignments.
- District officials said they will notify parents on Wednesday if school has to remain closed on Thursday.
- All after school activities are cancelled Wednesday.
District 161:

Infant Jesus of Prague School:

Gov. J.B. Pritzker on Tuesday activated 130 members of the Illinois National Guard to ensure that all state resources are in place to prepare for Winter Storm Landon. Forecasters are saying that certain portions of Illinois could see between 1-2 feet of snow between Tuesday night and Thursday.
Closer to Chicago, forecasters with the National Weather Service are expecting 5-11 inches of snow starting Tuesday night, with the heaviest expected south of the city. A second round of snow is expected to arrive Wednesday night into Thursday.
Central Illinois could see up to 20 inches of snow, with blizzard/whiteout conditions likely. Western Illinois and into the Chicago area will remain under winter storm warning, with heavy rain in Southern Illinois.
