Homewood Man Had Loaded Handgun In Car, Police Say

Homewood police said they searched the man's vehicle last month after smelling marijuana coming from the car.

HOMEWOOD, IL — A 25-year-old Homewood man was charged with unlawful use of a weapon during a traffic stop last month, Homewood police said.

According to officials, Davaughn Threets was arrested March 31 near the intersection of 183rd Street and Kedzie Avenue. Officers told Patch they smelled marijuana coming from Threets' car and searched the vehicle.

Inside, they found a loaded handgun. Police said the man did not have the proper approval to carry the loaded gun.
