Homewood Police Set Up New Details In Response To Excessive Speeders
Police said officers arrested a person driving 76 mph in a 30 mph zone along 183rd Street, an area where excessive speeding is a concern.
HOMEWOOD, IL — One person was arrested Thursday as a result of Village police officers working extra details to watch for speeding vehicles, officials announced Friday.
According to police, Homewood officers have been parked and watching new places over the last few weeks in an effort to crack down on speeding. A spokesperson for the village said the extra details are meant to catch "excessive speed violators."
Thursday, a 28-year-old man was seen traveling 76 mph in a 30 mph zone along the 1300 block of 183rd Street. Police said they took the man into custody where he was charged with a misdemeanor and released on bond.

According to officials, the residential stretch of 183rd Street has seen an increase in speeding that threatens other drivers, pedestrians and residents in the area.
