Homewood Taps New Assistant Village Manager

HOMEWOOD, IL — The Village of Homewood has hired Terence Acquah as the new Assistant Village Manager. The position of Assistant Village Manager plays a critical role in the success of municipal operations both from an internal and external perspective and serves as a critical function in assisting the Village Manager with daily operations, helping to accomplish the broader goals of the Village Board and community.

"Homewood brings back the best memories from my childhood. I grew up playing baseball here and loving the community," Acquah said. "I am excited to collaborate with staff and leadership on new ideas, programs and initiatives. There are so many great developments and projects happening. It’s a great time to be in Homewood!"

Acquah will assist with managing the day-to-day operations of the Village that include oversight of department operations, labor union agreements and negotiations, financial forecasting and budgeting, research and analysis, grant research and management and coordination of a wide variety of special projects.

Acquah began his employment at the Village of Homewood on Monday, April 29. Acquah, a native of Lynwood, comes to Homewood from the Village of Bolingbrook, serving recently as Superintendent of Public Works, and brings additional municipal experience from the Village of Olympia Fields as the Assistant Public Works Director, the City of Milwaukee as the Economic Development Specialist and the City of Peoria as Neighborhood Enhancement Specialist. While in Bolingbrook, Acquah helped settle the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) contract for the Village’s Public Works employees. Acquah, also served as the Project Manager of a $1.5 million rehabilitation to the Bolingbrook Golf Club.. While in Milwaukee, Acquah administered small business grants to over 100 local businesses. Acquah has a Master of Public Administration from DePaul University and a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from Eastern Illinois University.

"Terence brings municipal knowledge and operational experience to Homewood. He’s worked in both large cities and small communities," said Village Manager Napoleon Haney. "We’re excited to see what positive impacts he will have in the Village of Homewood."

Acquah will take his Oath of Office before the Village Board and residents at the May 14 Village Board Meeting at 7p.m.
