Homewood Village Hall Closed Until Mid-January Due To COVID
Village officials announced village hall and public works buildings would remain closed until Jan. 18 due to a surge in COVID-19 cases.

HOMEWOOD, IL — Due to a surge in COVID-19 cases, Homewood officials announced Thursday village hall and public works buildings would be closed to the public until mid-January.
A spokesman for the village told Patch both buildings will remain closed until Jan. 18 of 2022, when the village will reevaluate the need to stay remote or not.
The announcement comes days after Flossmoor village officials closed Flossmoor Village Hall until the beginning of the new year in order to mitigate COVID-19 risks. Public works services in Flossmoor will only be available on an emergency basis during that time, but Homewood officials said police, fire and public works services would not change.

Upcoming administrative hearings scheduled for Jan. 4 will still take place at village hall, but social distancing and masking will be required, officials said. If an employee does not feel comfortable going into the public meeting, officials said their hearing could be rescheduled for February.
All payments, permits and other paperwork can be dropped off in a drop box outside of village hall. Officials did not immediately respond to questions on how often the drop box would be emptied or what materials could not be turned in that way.
