Homewood's GottsChalk-The-Walk Set For July 21
Local artists will be using pastel chalk to create beautiful, unique artwork right outside the Gottschalk house.
HOMEWOOD, IL — The Village of Homewood will host GottsChalk-the-Walk sidewalk chalk art event on Sunday, July 21 from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. The event features sidewalk artistry by local chalk artists, community groups, families, and individuals outside of the historic Gottschalk House, built in 1891, in downtown Homewood.
Sidewalk chalk art is a modern take of a Renaissance tradition from 16th-century Italy in which artists chalked images of the Madonna by Raphael and his contemporaries using chalk, coal and tile on the plazas outside cathedrals.
The Village of Homewood hopes GottsChalk-the-Walk will allow community members to enjoy live art being created and chalked, all while enjoying the charm of downtown Homewood, officials said.
