Longtime Flossmoor Resident Steps Into New Role With Village, D161

Stephanie Wright has taken on the role of Community Engagement Manager with the Village of Flossmoor and District 161.

FLOSSMOOR, IL — The Village of Flossmoor and School District 161 have hired Stephanie Wright for the newly created Community Engagement Manager position, according to a release from the Village.

"Both the Village and School District 161 have identified a need to employ a Community Engagement Manager to coordinate Village and School District sponsored events, provide event related communication support, and provide connection opportunities for residents and parents with both the Village and the School District," the Village wrote.

The School District has yet to have someone formally fill this role; Wright has served the Village in a part-time position under the title Program & Event Coordinator for the past two years. Prior to her municipal work, Stephanie served School District 153 for three years and School District 161 for six years as Special Education Instructional Assistant.

"Stephanie Wright is a human lightning bolt; she works tirelessly on behalf of our residents," said Assistant Village Manager Jonathan Bogue. We can think of no one who is better suited, loves her community more, for this unique partnership with School District 161."

Wright manages Village events and programs, including Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service, Flossmoor Fest, and all holiday events. Stephanie also works with and serves as the staff liaison for various commissions, including the Community Relations Commission, Green Commission, and the Public Art Commission. Stephanie believes that the Village of Flossmoor shines its brightest when residents and visitors gather together over a shared task.

"Volunteerism has always been important to Stephanie, both professionally and personally," the Village said in a release. "Stephanie also values working with all the community partners and different departments within the Village of Flossmoor. Even before assuming this new role, Stephanie worked closely with the schools to engage students in volunteer opportunities and programs."

Wright's role as Community Engagement Manager with District 161 began June 1.

"I'm grateful for the opportunity to serve my community further in this role," Wright said. "I look forward to working with the entire team of talented and dedicated staff, students, and families within School District 161."

"We truly value our collaborative relationship with the Village of Flossmoor and the hiring of a shared Community Engagement Manager is another positive step for us. Wrightand her husband, Ryan, are parents to two sons, Griffin and Alex Wright. The Wright family has lived in Flossmoor for the last 19 years.
