Man, 42, Fatally Struck By Pickup Truck On Halsted: Homewood Police

A man was struck and killed by a pickup truck Sunday night in Homewood, police said Monday.

HOMEWOOD, IL — A 42-year-old Chicago man died after being struck by a car Sunday night in Homewood, police said Monday afternoon.

On March 30 at 11:15 p.m., Homewood police and fire were called to the 17600 block of Halsted Street for the report a pedestrian struck by a vehicle.

Police learned a black Dodge Ram was southbound when it hit a pedestrian that ran westbound across Halsted, police said.

The victim was taken to a local hospital where he later died. His name is being withheld at this time pending notification of family. The driver remained on the scene, police said. His involvement in the crash is under investigation, police said.

The circumstances of the crash are under investigation by the Homewood Police Department Criminal Investigations Unit with assistance from the Suburban Major Accident Reconstruction Team (SMART).
