Man Charged In Homewood, Bolingbrook Bank Robberies: Feds

HOMEWOOD, IL — A 26-year-old has been arrested in connection with two bank robberies in Bolingbrook and Homewood in the last two weeks, federal authorities told Patch.

Antonio E. Collins is facing two counts of bank robbery, a federal crime. According to officials from the FBI, Collins is the man who robbed a Chase Bank branch in Bolingbrook on Dec. 21 and a BMO Harris Bank branch in Homewood on Jan. 3.

In both instances, a man entered the bank and handed the teller a handwritten note which conveyed he would shoot people in the bank if he was not given money.

Court documents state Collins stole $2,868 in the Bolingbrook robbery and about $21,836 from the Homewood BMO Harris robbery. The North Riverside man was arrested Thursday and is due in court Tuesday at 3 p.m.

Each count of bank robbery is punishable by up to 20 years in federal prison.

Federal authorities told Patch that Collins implied he had a gun during both robberies, but did not immediately respond to Patch's request for comment on if Collins was carrying a real gun at the time.
