UPDATE: Man Died of Multiple Self-Inflicted Injuries

Multiple authorities have ruled that a man committed suicide.

The body of the 35-year-old Hazel Crest man was found around 3:40 p.m. in the 18200 block of Dixie Highway in Homewood yesterday, said in a statement.

Dixie Highway was closed between Olive and 183rd streets during an immediate investigation.

Homewood detectives, assisted by an Illinois State Police evidence technician, determined the cause of death through evidence in and around the vehicle and also through video footage, according to police.

Sgt. Denise McGrath said there were "procedural things we need to do" before releasing any additional information about what was found.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office identified the man as Johnny Anderson and also ruled the cause of death a suicide—the result of "multiple incised wounds" to the neck.

He was pronounced dead on the scene at 4:13 p.m., a spokeswoman for the examiner's office said.
