Murder Charges Filed In Homewood Man's Stabbing Death

HOMEWOOD, IL — A home health-care aide has been charged with first-degree murder in the stabbing death of a Homewood man who was found inside a burning home.

Frederick Walker, 23, of the 8600 block of 81st Street in Justice is accused of killing James Kerrigan, 78, in Kerrigan's home, according to police. Walker was Kerrigan's caregiver assigned to help him while he recovered from surgery. Walker was employed by a private agency.

A bond hearing is set for Walker Tuesday, Feb. 26, at the Markham Courthouse.

Kerrigan was found Feb. 2o after firefighters extinguished the blaze inside his home at the 1000 block of 185th Street. He died hours later from stab-wound injuries, authorities said.
