1 Driver Dead After 3-Car Crash: Homewood PD
Police were on the scene of a crash at 183rd and Kedzie Wednesday.
HOMEWOOD, IL —A 76-year-old female driver died, and another driver was injured in a three-car crash in Homewood Wednesday morning. A third driver is in custody pending an investigation.
Police were called to the intersection of 183rd and Kedzie at 8:45 a.m. for a crash involving a gray Ford, a black Volkswagen and an orange Nissan, Homewood Police said Wednesday afternoon.
A 76-year-old woman was injured in the crash and taken to South Suburban Hospital, where she later died, Homewood police said. Her name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

A second driver and their passenger were treated and taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
A third driver was taken into custody pending investigation.

The intersection was closed until just before 2 p.m. The circumstances of the crash are under investigation by the Homewood Police Department Criminal Investigations Unit with assistance from the Suburban Major Accident Reconstruction Team (SMART).
