With the April Consolidated Election just a few months away, see who is in the running for Park Board in Homewood-Flossmoor.

HOMEWOOD-FLOSSMOOR, IL — The April 2021 Consolidated Elections are just months away. Candidates for various positions around Homewood and Flossmoor are officially in the running for mayor, village board and of course, park board.
The Homewood-Flossmoor Park District has one opening on the Board of Commissioners. This year, current commissioner and Vice President Debbie Dennison was the only person to file. Dennison is currently running unopposed and is slated to win the only open spot on the board.
Park Boards are responsible for creating and enabling policies. Commissioners are responsible for passing ordinances and resolutions, similar to village and city board members. The board also is responsible for adopting budgets, appointing committees and more.

The Park Board meets typically once a month. The board's meeting schedule for 2021 can be seen on the website. Anyone from the public is encouraged to get involved or attend the park board meetings. Meetings are held at the Goldberg Administration Center, 3301 Flossmoor Road, Flossmoor, IL.
"It is very exciting to see so many people actively participating in the democratic process in their local communities," Cook County Clerk Karen A. Yarbrough said in a news release. "These elections are often overlooked although they have the most impact on our day-to-day lives."
