Teen Driver with Lead Foot Clocked Doing 50 MPH Over Limit

A juvenile was charged with reckless driving on Monday after Homewood police stopped her car.

Homewood police stopped a teen driver for doing 50 mph over the speed limit late Monday night.

The unidentified teen was stopped at about 11:21 p.m. in the 2100 block of 183rd Street after an officer clocked her traveling 85 mph in a 35 mph zone, according to a Homewood police report.

The driver failed to show proof of having insurance on the vehicle, the report states. A juvenile passenger in the vehicle was unable to provide any identification.

Both juveniles were taken to the Homewood Police Department.

The driver was charged with speeding more than 40 mph over the limit, reckless driving and driving without proof of insurance, the report states. She was released on bond to her mother and is due on Dec. 2 in Markham court.
