12-Year-Old Jailed For Clubbing Classmate In Head With Wiffle Ball Bat: Cops

JOLIET, IL — A 12-year-old Aux Sable Middle School student clubbed a classmate in the head with a wiffle ball bat during gym class, police said.

The beaten 13-year-old reportedly suffered an inch-long laceration to his head. His mother took him to Edward Hospital in Naperville for treatment.

The cops took the bat-wielding 12-year-old down to the police station and then to juvenile jail, police said.

Officers were sent to the far west side middle school about 10:30 a.m. Monday to investigate a report of one student striking another with a bat. It was not clear what prompted the alleged attack, which was reportedly witnessed by a number of students.
