ComEd Billed Shorewood Woman More Than 9 Years For Wrong House: Lawsuit

The Shorewood woman wants ComEd to pay her more than $10,000.

ComEd mistakenly billed a Shorewood woman for electricity used at someone else’s house and didn’t figure it out for more than nine years, according to a lawsuit filed in Will County court.

Kelly Lesnik wants ComEd to pay her more than $10,000, the lawsuit says.

Lesnik moved into her Edgewater Lane home in March 2006, the suit said. Nine years and three months later, a ComEd meter reader informed her “that the electricity usage that was being billed to her was not actually for her property but from a meter for a property owned by a neighbor” around the corner on Marion Drive, the lawsuit said. The two houses back up to each other.

In August, Lesnik received a letter from ComEd telling her they would credit her account, the lawsuit said, but the electric company only credited her for two years instead of nine years and three months.
