House Shot Up On East Side Of Joliet: Police

JOLIET, IL — The Joliet Police Department announced that someone fired several gunshots at a house on the east side of the city over Memorial Day weekend while people were inside the home.

At 7:40 a.m. May 25, officers responded to the 600 block of Grant Avenue for a report of shots fired. Police spokesman Dwayne English said the officers discovered that a house was struck by multiple rounds of gunfire. The home was occupied at the time of the shooting. No injuries were reported. Officers found numerous spent shell casings following a canvass of the area.

No arrests had been made in reference to this shooting as of Tuesday afternoon.

As Joliet Patch has reported over the years, gunfire, including murder, have been prevalent on Joliet's Grant Avenue.

Last week, Joliet Patch covered the second-degree murder guilty plea and sentencing for Dartavius Payton,who was one of at least three shooters who pulled up to 20-year-old Todd Taylor's Joliet house around 9 p.m. on April 28, 2020, at 359 Grant Avenue and opened fire on Taylor, in his driveway. Courtroom testimony established that Payton and Taylor used to be friends.
