Joliet City Hall To Close To The Public Again Due To Coronavirus
A recent increase in coronavirus cases across the region has prompted city officials to close Joliet City Hall to the public again.
JOLIET, IL — A recent increase in coronavirus cases across the region has prompted city officials to close Joliet City Hall to the public again beginning Friday, Nov. 20.
City officials made the decision after the state announced plans to move to Tier 3 Coronavirus Resurgence Mitigations starting this Friday.
Beginning Friday, November 20, 2020, Joliet City Hall will be closed to the public in response to Tier 3 Coronavirus Resurgence Mitigations as outlined by the State of Illinois. Instructions for conducting City business, such as payments, renewals and inquiries, is forthcoming

- hotels

- bars and restaurants
- meetings, social events and gatherings
- office work settings
- organized group recreational activities
- indoor recreation, theaters, cultural institutions
Joliet city government will continue to operate to meet the needs of the public; however, some employees may work from home, according to city officials.
Administrative Hearings scheduled for Nov. 24, 2020 and Dec. 8, 2020 will be postponed as follows:

Ordinance violations issued by the Joliet Police Department (including parking tickets) will be heard at 9 a.m. Property/building code violations will be heard at 1 p.m. on the dates listed above. Notices will be mailed out to the addresses that we currently have on file. If you've recently moved and need to update your address, contact the adjudication coordinator at 815-724-3794, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., city officials said.
On Wednesday, the Illinois Department of Public Health reported 8,922 new confirmed and probable cases of the coronavirus, including 140 additional deaths. To date, more than 11,000 COVID-19 deaths and 600,000 cases have been reported in Illinois.
