Joliet: Liquor License Recommended For New Bar/Restaurant Off Ruby
It's hard to keep up with all the name changes of the former El Primo Restaurant at the corner of Ruby and Hickory Street.

JOLIET, IL — Tuesday night's Joliet City Council agenda is calling for a Class E liquor license at 751 N. Hickory Street. The restaurant has undergone numerous name changes over the years, and the latest proposal is to have this property become the new Maracaibo Bite.
The City Council agenda provides very little information about the prospective liquor license applicant. It just says that the applicant has no prior experience in the sales or service of alcohol and that the person is not a convicted felon.
Maracaibo Bite suggests that alcohol sales will account for 20 percent of their revenue, and they also plan to offer live music at their business, which sits at the corner of Ruby and Hickory.

Mayor Terry D'Arcy, as city liquor commissioner, is urging the City Council's approval.
Last year, Joliet Patch reported that a new sit-down Joliet restaurant on the city's near side called Pollo Loco Latino Bar-Restaurant was hoping to attract customers by offering unique cuisine at 751 N. Hickory St. Their menu focuses on authentic dishes that mostly originate in South America, including: The Bandeja Paisa, a ribeye steak, chorizo, avocado, fried egg, arepa, sweet plantain and crispy pork rinds. The Lomo Saltedo, a sliced rib eye steak sautéed with peppers, onions, tomato and cilantro served with fries and rice. And, Pollo Loco, a half rotisserie chicken with rice, beans, avocado salad and maduros (also known as fried sweet plantains).
