Joliet Man Accused Of Firing Gun Into Another Driver's Vehicle

Willie Waddell, 32, has been charged with armed habitual criminal, aggravated discharge of a weapon and unlawful use of a weapon by a felon.

JOLIET, IL — A Joliet man is in jail after police said he opened fire on a moving vehicle. Willie Waddell, 32, has been charged with armed habitual criminal, aggravated discharge of a weapon and unlawful use of a weapon by a felon.

On Sunday around 7:46 a.m., officers said they responded to the 400-block of Krakar Avenue in reference to a vehicle that had been struck by gunfire.

After arriving on the scene, police said they learned that the victim was driving his vehicle when Waddell, an occupant in another vehicle, fired a gun at him, striking his vehicle. The victim was uninjured in the shooting.

During the course of the investigation, police said Waddell was identified as the suspect. On Monday, Joliet police detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Waddell, which was signed by a Will County judge.

Later that same day at approximately 6:26 p.m., police said Waddell was observed in a vehicle by an officer on patrol. A traffic stop was conducted in the 800-block of West Jefferson. Waddell was placed into custody and booked into the Will County jail.
