Joliet Neighborhood's 'Go-To Mom' Keeps Loving Despite Great Loss

JOLIET, IL— Moms do so much for everyone around them. We try to celebrate them all year long, but Mother's Day is a perfect opportunity to shout it from the rooftops and post it on Patch: Mom rocks!
Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize the awesome moms and mom figures in communities like yours.

What makes your Mom extra special?
She stepped in when her mom passed and held all our family gatherings and meals at her house. She would take any kid from the neighborhood in, feed them, let them shower and spend nights if they needed. She lost her mother, father, sister, brother, and niece. She adopted her niece's only child and raised her as her own. She is every kid in our neighborhood's "go-to Mom." She has lost so many loved ones, but still seems to have love for everyone. She's awesome and strong.
Why do you feel your Mom deserves the spotlight?
Because she lost her loved ones, and is still able to love so many others.
