Local Man Beaten With Baseball Bat After Refusing To Sell Jacket: Cops

The denied jacket-buyer also smashed out car windows and chased a woman down the street, police said.

A local man was beaten with a baseball bat after refusing to sell his jacket to an ex-convict at two in the morning on Hickory Street, police said.

The bat-wielding man, 23-year Jeremy Hoehn, apparently flew into a rage early Monday morning when a 35-year-old man refused to sell him his jacket, police said.

Officers reportedly found Hoehn, the beaten man, and two women — ages 36 and 30 — near the corner of Hickory and Moran streets. Besides bludgeoning the man, Hoehn used his aluminum baseball bat to smash out the windows of a 1995 Lincoln Car, police said. He also allegedly chased the older woman down the street but never got close enough to hit her with his bat.

Hoehn was arrested and taken to the Will County jail.

Hoehn only got out of prison 15 months ago. He did time on a gun conviction and for trespassing.
