Woman Airlifted After Black Road Crash, Joliet Police Close Street

The woman was airlifted by a Lifestar helicopter to Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, according to a Joliet fire battalion chief.

JOLIET, IL — Black Road was closed Tuesday evening as Joliet police investigated what they were calling a major crash. A young woman was airlifted by a Lifestar helicopter to Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, according to Joliet Fire Department Battalion Chief Jim Batusich.

Batusich said the woman was in serious condition. She was driving the car that overturned in the middle of Black Road. It was his understanding she was heading eastbound on Black Road, past the Midland Road intersection, when the wreck occurred at 6:02 p.m.

Batusich said she was the only person taken to the hospital. The Lifestar helicopter landed in the parking lot for the Blackburn funeral home, just a few blocks away from the wreck. Batusichw, who also sent to the crash scene, said Joliet Fire Department companies 5 and 6 rushed to the call and also performed an extrication to free the injured woman from the car.

Just after 6:30 p.m., Joliet police shared a Facebook post alerting drivers that Black Road was closed between Midland Avenue and Catherine Street.
