JOLIET, IL —Will County Clerk Annette Parker issued a press release on Monday letting everyone know that mobile driver’s licenses cannot be accepted by the Will County Clerk’s office for voter registration, vital records requests, or applying for marriage/civil union licenses.

At this time, the Clerk’s Office is not equipped with the specialized hardware required to securely read or verify mobile IDs, Parker's press release advised.

The Clerk’s Office has been in contact with the Illinois State Board of Elections’ Director of Election Operations regarding this matter and is following the guidance and recommendations provided. Equipment upgrades will be implemented once appropriate technology becomes available and approved for use.

Until proper equipment is installed and fully functional, residents must continue to present a physical, state-issued driver’s license or ID card for all services requiring identification.

For a list of accepted identification, visit the Will County Clerk’s website willountyclerk.gov or call 815-740-4615.

Meanwhile, back in August, Parker announced her intention to seek re-election as Will County Clerk in the 2026 primary election aiming to continue her service and leadership through 2028. Parker was elected in November 2024 in an abbreviated campaign prompted by the resignation of former Will County Clerk Lauren Staley-Ferry, who took over as Joliet's new city clerk.
