Driver Detained After Woman Struck By Vehicle In Walmart Parking Lot: Joliet Police

Residents are asked to avoid the area of the Jefferson Street Walmart as an investigation continues.

JOLIET, IL — A woman was struck by a vehicle Tuesday afternoon in the Walmart parking lot at 2424 W. Jefferson St., Joliet police said.

Officers responded to the parking lot around 2:40 p.m. The woman was taken to a local hospital by ambulance, police said.

The driver of the vehicle has been detained and charges are pending, police said.

Residents are being asked to stay away from the area as the investigation continues.

"We ask members of the public to avoid the area while traffic investigators reconstruct the scene," police said on social media. "Your cooperation helps ensure the safety of everyone involved and allows first responders to work without interruption."
