Police Seek Eyewitnesses, Dash Cam Video Of Fatal I-80 Crash

LASALLE COUNTY, IL — Illinois State Police are asking for the public's help investigating a fatal crash involving a driver from Joliet on I-80 near Ottawa Monday evening.

The crash involved a Kia Sedona van which hit the back of a semi-trailer around 6:45 p.m. at milepost 86. Earlier this week, state police said an adult passenger in the van was killed, and five children were seriously injured and flown to a hospital. The driver of the van is a 30-year-old Joliet man, according to officials.

According to WQAD, the passenger who was killed was a 36-year-old woman.

On Thursday, state police issued an appeal for more information on the crash from anyone who may have witnessed it or was driving in the area around the time of the crash.

"Anyone driving in the area at the time of the crash, anyone who witnessed the crash, or anyone who may have dash camera footage of the incident or of the involved vehicles before the crash are asked to please contact ISP Zone 1 special agents at 224-277-4945," state police said.
