Semi Rollover At Ridge Road, Plainfield Teenager Given 3 Citations: Joliet Police

JOLIET, IL — The Joliet Police Department issued a press release on Sunday surrounding Saturday's major crash that shut down Caton Farm Road at Ridge Road. The semi-trailer driver was not at fault for the crash because he had a green light, the press release noted.

At 10:10 a.m., Joliet officers responded to Caton Farm Road and Ridge Road for the crash with injuries involving a semi- truck. According to police spokesman Dwayne English, the Hyundai Santa Fe driven by Christopher Borsom, 19, Plainfield was southbound on Ridge Road approaching Caton Farm Road.

According to police, witnesses advised that the Hyundai turned left toward eastbound Caton Farm and collided with a Peterbilt semi-truck and trailer driven by a 26-year-old Aurora man northbound on Ridge Road at Caton Farm Road.

The collision caused the semi-truck to turn onto its side and spill a large amount of rock being hauled. It is believed that the stoplight was green for traffic on Ridge Road.

Borsom and his 12-year-old male passenger were transported to St Joseph Medical Center by the Joliet Fire Department. Borsom sustained serious non-life-threatening injuries. The male passenger sustained minor injuries. The driver of the semi-truck was uninjured. Borsom was cited for failure to yield -turning left, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and expired registration.
