Thug Preying on Elderly Women Outside Walmart Captured: Cops

A thug preying on elderly Walmart shoppers was captured as he pulled out of the Motel 6 on McDonough Street Tuesday night, police said.

Jeremie Porter, 37, stole the purses from two women on two days in a row in the parking lot of the West Jefferson Street Walmart, police said. In the second instance, he allegedly slammed a 72-year-old woman face-first into the pavement.

Porter, who lives in Dwight, according to jail records, first struck on Monday night, police said. He allegedly snatched a 70-year-old woman’s purse out of her shopping cart as she was loading groceries into her car.

The woman’s daughter chased after Porter but he gave her the slip, police said.

The next morning, Porter grabbed the purse away from the 72-year-old as she was loading groceries into her car, police said. The woman wouldn’t let go and Porter allegedly threw her to the ground.

Witnesses provided a description to the cops and reportedly told them of the white Dodge Charger Porter jumped into to make his getaway.

An officer reportedly spotted the distinctive Charger that night as it was pulling out of the Motel 6 parking lot. Police stopped the car, reportedly found evidence of the crimes inside the vehicle, and took Porter into custody.

Porter was charged with robbery, the aggravated battery of a senior citizen and theft. He was booked into the Will County jail.
