Woman, 75, Dies After Jeep Crashes In Joliet Front Yard: Coroner

The driver, a 67-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene.

JOLIET, IL — Hours after a 67-year-old Joliet man died when his Jeep struck two trees and rolled over in the front yard of a Westminster Road home, his passenger, a 75-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at Prime St. Joseph’s Medical Center, the Will County Coroner's Office said.

The coroner identified the man as Norman J. Wetherbee and the woman as Beverly J. Wetherbee. Autopsies were performed Saturday, and their final cause and manner will be determined following autopsy, police and toxicological reports, the coroner's office said.

The crash happened just before 6 p.m. Friday in the 1100 block of Westminster, police said.

According to Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English, the Jeep Grand Cherokee, driven by the 67-year-old man, was northbound on Westminster Road from Clara Avenue when it veered off the roadway to the east and struck multiple trees, causing it to roll over and come to rest in a front yard of a house.

English said anyone who may have video footage or any information pertaining to this crash is urged to contact the Joliet Police Department Traffic Unit at 815-724-3193.
