Phillip Valerio ran from officers, ignoring commands to stop, but was quickly placed into custody, Joliet police said.

JOLIET — The Joliet Police Department said a 38-year-old man from Glen Ellyn was arrested over the weekend in connection with allegations that he beat up a woman from Joliet and then tried to run from the Joliet police at the CVS Pharmacy on Plainfield Road.
Phillip Valerio was booked into the Will County Jail on charges of domestic battery, interference with reporting of domestic violence, two crimes of possession of controlled substance, two counts of possession of controlled substance with intent to deliver and one resisting/obstructing a peace officer.
Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English said the crimes leading to Valerio's arrest happened on the city's west side.

According to English, at 9:11 a.m. April 5, officers responded to an apartment in the 800 block of North Prairie Avenue for a domestic disturbance. The officers learned that Valerio had allegedly struck a woman in the head and grabbed her body. Valerio is also accused of taking the victim’s cell phone from a nearby dresser prior to the attack, English said.
A short time later, the Joliet police officers found Valerio in the parking lot of CVS at 809 Plainfield Road. There, English said, Valerio ran from the officers, ignoring commands to stop. He then was quickly placed into custody by pursuing officers. Upon search of Valerio, the officers recovered suspected cocaine and prescription pills, English said.
