Accused Riverside Burglar Extradited from Wisconsin

A Wisconsin man served time for burglary and arson before Riverside police retrieved him on an arrest warrant.

Riverside, IL — Riverside police have extradited a Wisconsin man charged with felony theft/residential burglary for a 2015 home break-in.

Detectives drove July 6 to the Adams County Sheriff's Office in Friendship, Wisconsin, with a search warrant and paperwork for the extradition of Shawn A. Ramirez, 23 of the 200 block of Indian Mount Street in Oxford, Wisconsin, according to Riverside police.

Police traced stolen jewelry from a Jan. 26, 2015, burglary to a pawn shop in Oak Park, leading them to believe Ramirez was the burglar. An iPad Mini and other electronic equipment were also stolen from the home in the 300 block of Nuttall Road, police reported.

Ramirez fled Riverside after the burglary, police say, and he committed several other burglaries in Jackson, Wisconsin. A fire was started in a garage that was burglarized.

Ramirez was arrested by the Adams County Sheriff's Department in Wisconsin for burglary and arson. He served his prison term there and has been released to the Riverside Police Department.
