Embattled Suburban School Official Leaving After Spending Scandal
A report said the official "rubber-stamped" the superintendent's misspending, including for porn.
SUMMIT, IL – A top Argo Community High School official is leaving after this school year under the terms of a resignation agreement approved Wednesday.
Last month, an internal investigative report stated that Joe Rojek, assistant superintendent of finance, "rubber-stamped" then-Superintendent William Toulios' credit card spending. It turns out Toulios spent thousands on porn, which he hid by using certain apps, the report said.
Written by attorneys and accountants, the report said Rojek weakened spending controls after he was hired in 2022.

Under the agreement, board President Jennifer Grenier and acting Superintendent Brandon Cotter will write letters of recommendation for Rojek.
For his part, Rojek has agreed not to sue the school.
When allegations of Toulios' misspending came up in 2024, Rojek was asked to investigate. In a closed school board meeting, he pointed out $427 in improper credit card charges; Toulios reimbursed the school.
This year's inquiry identified about $35,000 in questionable spending. State police have confirmed they are investigating.
