Bernie Sanders, Donald Trump Took Lyons Township in IL Primary

Lyons Township, IL - Uncertified vote tallies show presidential hopefuls Bernie Sanders and Donald Trump won their respective political party primaries in Lyons Township, according to Cook County Clerk’s website.
In the Democratic presidential primary, Bernie Sanders captured 51.16 percent of the vote to Hillary Clinton’s 47.99 percent in Lyons Township.
On the Republican side, Donald Trump came out ahead with 40.29 percent of ballots cast in Lyons Township, followed by John Kasich, 27.69 percent, Ted Cruz, 20.91 percent, and Marco Rubio 9.45 percent.

In suburban Cook County, 1,443,261 voters were registered, and 690,851 ballots were cast. Lyons Township contributed 12,975 votes.
In what was probably the hottest local Democratic primary race, two-term prosecutor Anita Alvarez won Lyons Township with 44.35 percent of the vote, followed by Kim Foxx, 38.83 percent, and Donna More 16.82 percent in the Democratic primary for Cook County State’s Attorney.
