Czechoslovak Picnic Festival Comes to Brookfield

Bohemian rhapsody: The Czechoslovak American Congress is hosting its Picnic Festival starting at 11 a.m. Sunday at Kiwanis Park, 8820 Brookfield Ave. in Brookfield. The event will feature arts and crafts, as well as entertainment, but the food is the highlight. Enjoy sausages, potato pancakes, roasted corn, bakery and other traditional foods. The picnic will feature the James Drnek Polka Band and the United Moravian Societies dance group.

Everything is ‘Rent’: Put yourself in an East Village state of mind and check out the High School Repertory Company of the Children’s Theatre of Western Springs as they perform their production of Rent. The show runs 7:30 p.m. Friday, 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, and 2:30 p.m. Sunday.
