Dog Dies In La Grange Park House Fire: Agency
The house was reported as uninhabitable, with an estimated $200,000 in damage.
LA GRANGE PARK, IL – A dog died in a fire that damaged a La Grange Park house Saturday, the fire department said.
Firefighters responded to the fire about 3:30 p.m. at 514 N. Catherine Ave., according to a fire department news release. It was reported by a neighbor.
The fire was coming out the windows of the back of the 2½-story, wood-frame house, spreading to the second floor and attic, firefighters said.

No one was in the house at the time, except the dog, Zoe. Firefighters said they tried to revive the animal, but it died from its injuries.
The fire department said the fire appears to have started in the kitchen. The home was reported as uninhabitable, with an estimated $200,000 in damage.

According to a GoFundMe page, the Dryfoos family – Jillian, Mark, Emma and Chloe – live in the house.
"They are struggling to comprehend the extent of their loss, as their home is uninhabitable and they will need to rebuild their lives from scratch," said the page, created by friends Lauren Enright and Susan Goldby. "We are reaching out to our amazing community to help get them back on their feet. Any donation, no matter the size, will make a significant difference in helping them."
As of Monday morning, nearly $50,000 had been raised.
