What will be your single most important priority if you get elected?: Change the board meeting procedures to have public discussions on the issues facing the PDLG. These changes should include broadcasting the meetings on public access, bringing the monthly meetings to the people by having them at locations around the village, and eliminating the current 3-minute limit for people to speak at board meetings.

Why are you seeking office?: The PDLG needs new leadership and new board members. I have attended most board meeting over the last several years and have seen first hand the issues that develop due to lack of public input, and decisions being made during closed sessions. I will quickly seek to implement new ideas related to transparency and public input. I will seek to shift spending away from legal fees, engineering fees, and consulting services. The savings can be used to improve the parks with tangible items across the entire district.
What sets you apart from the other candidates (if applicable)?: I would be a new member to the board bringing new ideas of transparency and fiscal responsibility. I am a hand’s on person who will devote the time and effort to get involved in the details of the PDLG operation and finances. I do not support the sale of any park property in the district.
What are the other issues you plan to address in this position, and how?: Educating the public on the financial status of the PDLG. This would include a discussion on the current debt of the park district, and their taxing history. I would also solicit input from the public before incurring any additional debt with the use of bond issues. The public deserves to know how the proceeds of any bond issue will be spent prior to the issuance of any new bond debt.
Please add any other information pertinent to your campaign: I strongly believe in term limits of all politicians at all levels of government. If elected in 2013 I will not seek reelection in 2017
