Ogden Avenue will be reduced from four lanes to one East-bound lane and one West-bound lane between Joliet Avenue and Center Avenue.

Village of Lyons officials urge residents to find alternative routes, especially during the morning and evening rush-hour periods This is the final phase of construction that began last year, Lyons officials said.

Lyons Mayor Christopher Getty said the water main work is a part of $5.5 million in planned water main and road improvements for the village that began earlier this year and is expected to continue through the end of 2016.

Getty said most of the funding for the project comes from the state, and this phase will bring to an end the final phase of a project intended to help improve traffic, increase safety and reduce water loss from aging infrastructure.

“This is the oldest section in our town and the repairs will go a long way to bring improvements to that area,” Mayor Getty said.
