Firework May Have Caused Dumpster Fire : La Grange Park Fire Chief
The fire was extinguished within minutes, according to the fire department.
LA GRANGE PARK, IL — A firework or other kind of explosive device was likely responsible for setting a dumpster ablaze Thursday in La Grange Park, according to fire officials.
At approximately 9:15 p.m., the fire department arrived to the dumpster fire behind the Dollar Tree in the Village Market, 355 N. La Grange Rd. The fire was extinguished within minutes, according to Fire Chief Dean Maggos. Fire investigators remained on the scene afterward for approximately 45 minutes.
No one was injured, the building was untouched and the damage from the blaze was estimated at about $1,000, according to the fire chief.

Maggos said the estimated damage was around $1,000.
The dumpster fire comes a week after a house fire less than a mile away on the 400 block of North Park Road. According to Maggos, the house fire appears to be accidental and related to the construction work taking place there.
