"We've been doing craft fairs for about 15 years," said Glamour owner Maritza Thompson recently. "We did the craft fair in La Grange for two years before we opened."

While the craft fair wasn't the only thing that drew them to downtown La Grange's business community, getting an up close look at the scene for two years at the craft fair was influential on the owners, Thompson said.

"La Grange has so many different events [like the craft fair] where the community gets really involved," Thompson said. "It was definitely something we considered when looking for spaces."

Glamour is trying to capitalize on the success of the last year at the shop by bringing in some new designers to help the two owners out—and they're looking for craft fair vendors.

"We're actually looking for crafters to add to our store this year," Thompson said. "We gave the [La Grange Business Association] a postcard to pass out to all the vendors letting them know."

Many of the items for sale at Glamour are hand designed by Thompson and her business partner Kefah Suhail, who are looking for some extra support.

"My hands are breaking a bit," Thompson joked.

Things have also changed slightly at the store in the last year as the business has expanded into new areas.

"We went in with one idea, but with customer requests for other things we've added a lot more," Thompson said.

She described the store now to being like a kids candy store, only filled with beads, ribbons and plenty of hair accessories.

"When we started, the feather boas were really popular [with younger girls]," Thompson said. "But that [demand] is pretty much extinct now. Now it's all about the hair accessories."
