Impaired Driver Crashes into Wall Near Riverside Schools
Packets of cocaine were found in the driver's possession, police say.
Riverside police found a car on a retaining wall Dec. 9 in the southwest corner of Park Place at Woodside Road, not far from Riverside School District 96 schools.
Javier Jimenez, 23 of the 1300 block of N. Pine Avenue in Chicago, was arrested at the scene after he failed all field sobriety tests and DUI drug field sobriety tests, according to Riverside police.
Multiple 911 calls around 6:16 a.m. brought police to the scene, where they found Jimenez, who had minor injuries, was still in the car.

Riverside Police Chief Tom Weitzel said in a statement there were some students on their way to Riverside Brookfield High School for early morning activities, but no children were at the crosswalk when the crash happened.
Jimenez was treated by paramedics but refused to be taken to a hospital. A strong smell of alcohol came from his breath, and he showed signs of being under the influence of a narcotic, prompting the field sobriety testing, police reported.

Police found packets of cocaine on Jimenez and in the car.
Riverside Police charged Jimenez with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of drugs (cocaine), possession of a controlled substance (cocaine) — a Class 4 felony — driving with no insurance, improper operation of a motor vehicle, driving off roadway and several other traffic violations, according to police.
Jimenez had a prior DUI arrest on May 9, 2013 by Chicago police, but his license was valid at the time of the crash in Riverside.
