La Grange To Up Its Social Media Game

LA GRANGE, IL – The village of La Grange has long lagged behind towns such as Western Springs in its Facebook presence.
The village wants to change that.
For a long time, Trustee Beth Augustine, who was elected in 2019, has spoken about the village's need to up its social media game.

"One of the functions of La Grange government that I had most hoped to enhance when I came here years ago was the way we got our message out to residents," Augustine said. "Gone are our local papers and small-town word of mouth."
On Monday, the Village Board approved a contract with City Social Marketing Solutions.

Under its terms, the company will create an official village Facebook page, reimagine the production and distribution of a printed newsletter, and improve the content available on the village's website.
With more than 25 years of experience, City Social works for towns such as Lyons, Willow Springs, North Riverside and Buffalo Grove, according to a village memo.
Under the contract, the company will not be paid more than $65,000 a year.
The La Grange Police Department has a Facebook page, while the village shares a page with other area entities.
Area towns that maintain such pages include Western Springs, Burr Ridge, Darien and Elmhurst. Hinsdale does not have one.
