La Grange Leader Doesn't Understand Burr Ridge Mayor's Comment
Village president says La Grange's restaurants are a point of pride, making the village a "vibrant destination."
LA GRANGE, IL — At a meeting late last month, Burr Ridge Mayor Gary Grasso said he didn't want his town to repeat the experience of La Grange, which he contended was "oversaturated" with restaurants for a time.
Grasso cautioned the Village Board to be mindful of the saturation issue when approving new restaurants for special use permits.
Patch contacted La Grange Village President Mark Kuchler about Grasso's comment on La Grange's restaurant industry.

"I am not sure what Mayor Grasso might have been referring to at the recent Burr Ridge Village meeting," Kuchler said in an email. "We are very proud of all of our restaurants, including ones that have been open for generations and the more recent arrivals."
He added, "In addition, we are thrilled with the new restaurants that will be opening in the very near future. Our restaurants make La Grange a vibrant destination and are a key reason that La Grange is considered to have the 'Best Downtown' in the western suburbs."

At the meeting last month, the Burr Ridge Village Board approved a new Mediterranean restaurant called Pella. At 13,000 square feet, it would be Burr Ridge's largest restaurant. The next biggest would be Cooper's Hawk, which is about 10,000 square feet, officials said.
