La Grange Park Fire Causes $150,000 in Damage
Early morning fire on Sunday took 45 minutes for La Grange Park firefighters to extinguish.

A fire in La Grange Park at 1246 Cleveland Ave. on Sunday morning resulted in an estimated $150,000 in damage.
Firefighters received a call at 6:20 a.m. on Sunday morning. Upon arrival, heavy fire was coming from the several of the one-story home's windows.
A female resident of the home was woken early in the morning to the sound of her smoke detector going off. When she got up to investigate the noise, the fire forced her to leave the home. The woman was not injured in the blaze, but was taken to as a precaution against smoke inhalation.

It took firefighters 45 minutes to get the blaze under control, but crews spent several hours extinguishing hot spots and investigating the cause of the fire. According to the fire department, damage to the house was extensive.
Fire Chief Dean Maggos used the opportunity to point out the importance of smoke detectors in this situation.
