La Grange Police Respond to Possible Bomb, No Need to Worry, Chief Says

La Grange police responded to a report about a possible bomb today in La Grange, but there's no need to worry, police chief says.

The responded to a report of a possible bomb in La Grange today, but it turned out there was no need for concern, Police Chief Michael Holub said.

"It was one of those better be safe than sorry situations," Holub said.

A ComEd worker called in the report to the police department after he said he saw a canister that might be filled with black powder. Early reports said that the ComEd worker was responding to an alert he received from ComEd about another possible bomb. ComEd said they only issued one alert today and it was after the La Grange incident.

To be safe, the worker called La Grange police, who dispatched the fire department and the Cook County Sheriff's Bomb Squad to the scene.

The canister, which Chief Holub said looked like a coffee can, ended up being filled with notebooks.

"It's always better for people to report these things, and this ComEd worker did the right thing," Holub said.
