LA GRANGE, IL – A 13-year-old La Grange restaurant closed over the weekend, but its owners say it'll reopen in the late spring with a "fresh concept."

In a Facebook post, the Kopley and Maglaris family said it was announcing the decision with "bittersweet sentiment."

"As difficult as it was to come to this decision, we’re extremely excited and happy to announce, although Monk's will be closing, WE will not be going anywhere," the restaurant said. "The restaurant which has delighted patrons, where so many memories and friendships were forged, will reopen its doors with a fresh new concept, transforming to a new culinary dining experience for all to enjoy."

The restaurant said the Monk's name will live on with its food trailer – Monk's Mobile Kitchen – which will be at summer festivals and some local breweries.

Monk's customers were disappointed to see it close.

"Ugh, just when I find a place that I love, a great place to escape with my spouse for a casual dinner out," one woman said on Facebook.

The restaurant said it would provide updates as the reopening approaches.
